COURSE OVERVIEW: German Course A1 CEFR Level: A1 – Basic User I Course Dates: 7 July – 1 September 2025 Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Duration: 8 weeks (60 teaching hours) Location: MIDDA Language and Skills Hub, Nsubuga Road Instructor: Paul COURSE DESCRIPTION: The German Course A1 offers a structured introduction to the German language, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This internationally recognised framework describes six levels of language proficiency: - A1 – Basic User I - A2 – Basic User II - B1 – Independent User I - B2 – Independent User II - C1 – Proficient User I - C2 – Proficient User II This A1-level course is designed for complete beginners and focuses on everyday communication skills. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: - Engage in basic conversations (e.g. greetings, introductions, shopping) - Understand and share simple information - Read and write short texts - Apply fundamental grammar structures Teaching is based on the textbook “Menschen A1 – Deutsch als Fremdsprache/Kursbuch” and combines structured exercises with practical communication. An optional, free internal final exam is offered at the end of the course. Learners will also be prepared for the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 examination, which is optional and can be taken independently. Many course participants continue their studies beyond A1—up to levels B1 or higher—and only then obtain an international certificate such as the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 to fulfil visa requirements. Upon successful completion, participants may continue with the German A2 – Basic User II course. Course Fees (Total: UGX 950,000): - Registration: UGX 50,000 - Learning materials: UGX 100,000 - Course tuition: UGX 800,000 The course fee can be paid in two instalments of UGX 475,000 each: before the start of the course and at the beginning of the second half.
